About Dr. Barmakian
Dr. Joseph T. Barmakian attended Bucknell University and Rutgers Medical School, where he graduated with honors. He did his preliminary surgical training at The George Washington University Medical Center and then completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. He then completed a hand surgery fellowship at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute in New York City. He has treated orthopaedic patients for over 30 years and has performed more than 11,000 surgical procedures.
Dr. Barmakian is board certified in orthopaedic surgery with subspecialty certification in surgery of the hand. He is also certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners.
Dr. Barmakian is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the New York Society for Surgery of the Hand and the New Jersey Orthopaedic Society.
Dr. Barmakian has extensive experience with Workers Compensation and Personal Injury cases. He has served as an expert witness in medical malpractice, product liability and personal injury cases and has performed Need for Treatment evaluations, second opinions and permanency evaluations on Workers Compensation cases. He combines his education, knowledge and clinical experience to provide a comprehensive evaluation and written report with a clear explanation of the basis for his expert opinions. He has courtroom and deposition experience.
